If you’re like me, when it comes to tackling Spring cleaning your home, it’s a little overwhelming at best, and you can easily get distracted if you don’t carry out the task in hand with an appropriate order that works for you.
I know what you’re thinking! There’s a “proper” order to cleaning? Get outta here! I fully believe that there is and disclaimer just because this works for me doesn’t mean it will work for you. However, as a mother of three and a human being, I feel I would be letting you down if I didn’t at least pass it on with hopes it helps someone else come up with their own best way to do it… Let’s dive in, shall we!!
Here are the 5 ways “in order” that I have learned over the past nearly 12 years of being a wife and mother to quickly clean my home with minimal stress that really does work and helps….ALOT!
1.) Make Your Bed Hear me out and don’t start laughing just yet. There’s a reason people have been saying for years to make your bed as soon as you get out of it in the morning. It really does provide a small sense of accomplishment before you have even begun your day, and can help set the tone for the rest of your day. Plus, it just helps your room appear more neat and tidy! Score!
Now, depending on your weekly cleaning routine and which day you prefer to change your bedding/linen, you may want to go ahead and tackle this now rather than later. A thought!
2.) Clear Out The Trash Picking up all empty water bottles, paper, wrappers or any other obvious broken or disposable items and quickly discarding them will add to your sense of accomplishment and bring joy to the situation.
Trust me! No one likes trash clutter and it is making your heart sad.
3.) Clothes Now, this one for me is where I start to see my bedroom floor finally emerge again. By hanging up any coats, folding and putting away any clean clothes lying around and by picking up and putting your dirty clothes in the wash, you have now most likely eliminated the majority of clutter in your room!
Congratulations, but there is still more work to be done!
4.) Books/Paper/Supplies/Toys This step is as easy as it sounds. Books are to be shelved, papers to be filed, toys to be put in a bin (if it’s a child’s room) and office supplies to be placed away in their own designated spot. Don’t have a designated spot for it? With your room more than half way cleaned, now is a great time to find it one.
Feeling accomplished yet? I am! Don’t give up now! The finish line is so close!
5.) Miscellaneous Items Here it is, the final step.. We have made it! Although, sometimes, this can be the most tedious of all 5 steps. After the above previous 4 steps, this step brings us to all of the items that we have been passing over that just didn’t fit any of the aforementioned criteria slots. With your room now clean and clear of distractions, you should be able to easily find a spot for your miscellaneous item. Whether it be, electronic cords, electronics, photo frames to be hung, stuffed animals (yes, I’m a grown woman with stuffed bears, deal with it!), and any other random items you may have. Because, let’s gets real, we all have them!!
Now, depending on the severity of what you started with, it could 30 minutes later or 3 hours later….But, YOU DID IT!!
WooHoo!! Do a little happy dance, because you deserve it!!
I truly hope this helps someone. Whether, this method works great or you tweak it to make it your own. If you did find it helpful or informative, please share this with family and friends!
♥ Until next time…Stay blessed my lovely mommies!! ♥
